 Southland Log Home Project:

7/12-The wallboard was finished today in this Rockbridge Model Southland Log Home in Standardsville. After a good cleaning, the walls will be primed. We will then install the interior trim and doors...clean, caulk, and seal the interior logs...finish the interior stairs...and set the kitchen cabinets. The cabinets will be measured for granite counter tops on 7/16. While waiting for the countertops, which will take about two weeks, the hardwood flooring, tile, and light fixtures will be installed.

8/6-The interior doors and trim have been installed, as well as the cabinets, vanities, and countertops. Priming and painting of the  wallboard areas was finished today. Caulking and sealing of the interior logs will begin 8/9. We now have running water and air conditioning. The hardwood floors are being delivered early next week and will be installed as soon as all painting/staining/sealing of the logs and trim has been completed. There are still tile floors, kitchen backsplash, and a shower to be completed. If all goes as planned, we should have an Occupancy Permit within two weeks.

6/18-The Certificate of Occupancy was obtained on this 1620 Sq. Ft. saddle roof ranch home today. With the CO now secured, BB&T can now order their final inspection to convert the Construction Loan phase over to a Permanent Loan for the owner. Notice the nice hardwood floors and upgraded maple, glazed kitchen cabinets.

6/30-Glenn Mustain Construction of Moneta started framing this 1620 sq. ft. customer provided plan over a full walkout basement on 3/15/10. Framing dry-in, including shingles and windows, was completed on 3/24/10. I challenge anyone to show me a better, more knowledgeable framer. Depending on certain finishing choices, you can be in a similar home for around $170,000...or about $105.00 a sq. ft.

7/7-Roofing paper is in the process of going on today. The home was successfully dried-in in under three weeks, which is almost unheard of for this size heavy timber roof design. Practice makes perfect...this is Glenn's teams third Rockbridge Model in the last 12 months. There is still a lot of work to be done before H/A, plumbing, and electrical subs can start...hopfully beginning around Wednesday 7/14 of next week with Cundiff H &A. Some wiring has already been done in the roof system by Tony Lloyd of T. L. Electric also from Moneta.

8/6-The HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing rough-ins are now complete. Glenn will complete some drop down ceilings and framing around some of the heat/air ducts on Monday so we can call for the roughin inspections from Bedford County. Once passed, Kents Insulation will be install the floor and basement wall insulation for another inspection before wallboard can be started. Stone has been selected for the chimney and basement walls and will be delivered next week.
